Have you ever dreamed of having your own wine cellar at home? For Martin and his wife, this dream came true, even though the way there required a flood!

“It all started when our basement was flooded and our collection of about 200 good bottles was underwater for several hours,” Martin says.

Luckily, the whole collection was saved, but the experience had left its mark and Martin quickly realised that he didn't want to worry about his wine collection every time it rained.

So he decided to move the wine collection up in the living room. “My wife’s display cabinet was transformed into a wine cabinet,” says Martin with a smile.

“We are both very happy with this solution, and it’s nice to have the wines at hand instead of in the basement,” he adds.

After examining several options, the choice fell on the beautiful Caverack wine racks in oak, which are easy to modulate up to an entire wine wall. Combined with a delicious wine cooler from Danish Pevino with space for 141 bottles distributed over 2 zones, the wine installation dream became a reality.

Martin, who is both a carpenter and a glammaster himself, took control of the installation of the wine cooler from Pevino and the elegant oak shelves from Caverack.

Everything is clad in acoustic panels with oak veneer to create the perfect finish and the beautiful cohesion that runs through the entire house, where the doors are also in oak veneer. “I made the glass pane in the top doors and the handles on the doors myself,” he adds.

Wine installation in the living room is a beautiful eye-catcher and is both functional and really beautiful. “It’s the first thing you notice when you enter the room,” says Martin.

The family enjoys sitting at the dining table and watching the wine installation “and it has also received many admiring words from guests along the way,” adds Martin proudly in his voice.

Martin has organised his Pevino wine cooler so it’s easy to find the wines they want to drink. He has divided the wine cooler so that they have 2–3 shelves to drink from, and the rest are storage wines that need a little extra love in the wine fridge under the best conditions.

If you, like Martin, also dream of your own wine cellar at home, then be inspired by Martin and his wine installation from Wineandbarrels. With the right shelves and a wine cooler, you can create your very own wine experience right in your own home.
